Making Sure Your Music is a Hit at Your Wedding

Here’s a few tips that might help if you’re planning a live band for your wedding ceremony and/or wedding reception.  You’ll see some great options on our preferred professionals page as well.

A few questions you’ll want to ask when interviewing…

  • How much wedding experience do you have (a great band does not automatically translate into a great weeding experience).
  • Do you take and play requests?
  • Does the band come with its own sound system? Is the system adequate for my reception?
  • What does your cost include. How many musicians? Hours of the performance. Number and length of sets. Number and length of breaks?

If you can get a referral, that’s usually the best place to start.  Ask your friends, family and keep an eye (ear) open when your at a wedding as well or other events.  Don’t hesitate to ask other wedding professionals if they know of a great band (especially those who cater to the wedding reception, ie; photographers, videographers, Master of Ceremonies, Caterers and the venue staff.
